Jose Maria Olazábal  praised the course and the fairways and he was fascinated by the layout, which added to the popularity. José Maria Olazábal emphasized especially the 3rd hole (a par 5 hole) on the north course where black volcanic sand bounded golf course on the left hand and a dramatic Baranco bounded the right side.

The Southern golf course has a very interesting and significant signature hole. It is the 2. hole, which is a long par 3, where the green is surrounded by black lava sand and thus acts as a green island. (Golf picture above).
